Charles Hiram McVey Sr., 93, of McRae died on Friday, June 4th, 2021 at his residence.
Charles was a farmer and a carpenter and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was the son of the late Samuel Francis McVey and Ada Browning McVey. He was also preceded in death by a son, Donnie McVey; brother, Howard McVey and a sister, Helen Swain.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 8th, 2021 in the Chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home and interment will follow in the Telfair Memorial Gardens. Mr. Eric Jarrard will be officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy McVey of McRae; 3 children, Charlene (Don) Holland of McRae, Charles (Jane) McVey of McRae; Lisa (Eric) Jarrard of McRae; daughter-in-law, Elaine McVey of McRae; 11 grandchildren, Chris (Tracy) Holland, Jason (Melissa) Holland, Jodi (Michael) Batchelor, Donnie (Haley) McVey, Cassi (Kelvin) Hart, Wesley (Tiffany) McVey, Matthew (Jessie) McVey, Megan (Darrell) Ragan, Sam (Jessie) Jarrard, Mauri Jarrard, Charlie Jarrard; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grand-children; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Kinnett of McRae, Betty Jean (Lonnie) Smith of Gray; 1 brother, Frank (Mildred) McVey of McRae; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, June 7th, 2021 at the funeral home.
