James Ronald “Ronnie” Walker

James Ronald “Ronnie” Walker, 74 of Jacksonville, died Thursday June 2, 2022. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, James Wimbric Walker and Hilda White Walker, and a step-daughter Dichelle McDuffie.
James Ronald Walker, affectionately called Ronnie, was born June 28, 1947. He was a graduate of Georgia Southwestern University and a member of the McRae First United Methodist Church. Mr. Walker served as a Georgia State Senator for District 19 for 8 years (1976-1984). He was also the Sheriff of Telfair County for 8 years and was the President of his class of his Sheriff-Elect Academy.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Dianne Marchant Walker of Jacksonville; Children; Ron (Lisa) Walker and Mandy (Heath) Holloway both of Chauncey; Step-Children, Jay (Irma) McDuffie of Hawkinsville and Emily (Eddie Pope of Eastman. Grandchildren; Jacob Holloway, Lauren Walker, Haley Holloway and Chase Walker. Step-Grandchildren; Joseph McDuffie and Elissa Pope; Sister Jennifer (Trevor) Singleton and brother Craig (Pam) Walker both of McRae. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, June 6, 2022 at the Milan City Cemetery with Lay Minister Norwood Davidson officiating.
