L.M. Wilkes, Jr., 80, of Helena, died on Sunday, in the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Marshall Wilkes, Sr. and Mattie Kirkland Wilkes; brother; Arthur (A.T.) Wilkes; sister-in-law, Sandra Wilkes.
L.M. worked as an Engineer with Roydon Wear for 31 years, Telfair State Prison for 4 years and also was a truck driver. He was a Veteran who served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Linda Cartwright Wilkes of Helena; 6 children, Lisa (Dennis) Vesser of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lynda Morin of San Diego, California, Marshall Wilkes III of Helena, Georgia, Michael (Jill) Thomas of Camden, South Carolina, Clayton (Vickey) Williams of Guyton, Georgia, Amy (Danny) Stokes of Helena, Georgia; 1 brother, Alvin Wilkes of North Augusta, South Carolina; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy (Lisa) Vesser, Celia (Stefan) Hare, Ben Thomas, Hannah Thomas, Emma Morin, Julitte Morin ,Brent Williams, Dylan Stokes, Sierra Stokes, Brooke Myers ; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
