Obituary for Mildred Regina Gatlin

Mildred Regina Gatlin passed away Sunday July 3rd. A funeral service led by Pastor David Gatlin will be held Thursday July 7th at 11:30 AM in the chapel at Lowe’s Funeral Home with burial to follow at Bowers Cemetery in Dodge County.

A proud citizen of Helena, GA for over 80 years and longtime member of Helena Baptist Church, Ms. Gatlin was one of five children of the late Joseph Needham Gatlin and Mamie Clyde Gatlin (Coody) and beloved stepmother Lucille Welch Gatlin. Ms. Gatlin served as past Worthy Matron of the order of The Eastern Star, President of the Ga Dental Association and National Dental Association. Ms. Gatlin will be remembered for her love of the lord, kindness, charitable contributions, and presumption of goodness in all people she encountered. A lifetime hard worker, she labored on the family farm as a child during the depression, worked in the Local Telegraph office, was employed as dental hygienist for Dr George Callahan for more than 40 years and was a substitute teacher well into her 70s. She is predeceased by brothers Ben Gatlin, Luther Gatlin, Bob Gatlin and Billy Gatlin; Nieces and Nephews and close relatives: Benji Gatlin, Brook Gatlin, Ronnie Gatlin, Anita Gatlin, Jewel Gatlin, Paulette Gatlin, Renae Gatlin, Robert Oakes and Randy Gatlin.

She is survived by nieces, nephews and close relatives: David Gatlin, Alisa Gatlin, Rhonda Gatlin, Sue Gatlin, Christopher Gatlin, Ginger Oakes, Danny Gatlin, Jean Gatlin, Stevie Oakes, Kandi Oakes, and beloved neighbors Will and Linda Page.
