Richard Deason Morris
Richard Deason Morris, age 53, of McRae Helena, went to sleep and woke up with Jesus on May 14, 2021. Rich grew up in Ailey, Georgia with his mom, dad, and three brothers. He was a 1985 graduate of Montgomery County High School. He lived in the Ailey and Vidalia area most of his life until his marriage to his love in 2009, when he settled in McRae Helena. Rich was a member of Milan Church of God.

Rich had several careers over the years including paint and body shop work with his older brother, Jay. For the last 16 years he was a Technical Advisor with Pilot Catastrophe, helping and training adjusters on repair methods and operating the estimating software.

Rich enjoyed fishing, Nascar, riding his motorcycle, working on his land with his tractor, and most of all good times with friends and family. Rich was one of a kind, outspoken, loud, fun loving, generous with a heart of gold and giver of the best bear hugs ever. Rich was very compassionate toward animals, and was always bringing a different stray home. He loved to laugh, and those who knew him will always picture him with a smile and laugh.

Rich was preceded in death by his beloved father, John G. “Johnny” Morris and his big brother and best friend, John G. “Jay” Morris, Jr. Rich is survived by his wife, Janet Lowe Morris of McRae Helena; one step-son, Brant Lowe of Augusta; daughter, Ansley (Bobby) Butler of McRae Helena; his mother, Glenda Davis Morris of Mount Vernon; his brother Jay’s widow, Stella K. Morris of Higgston, two brothers, Matt Morris and wife Stephanie of Warner Robins, and Mike Morris of Mount Vernon; one niece, four nephews, one great niece, and several beloved pets.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Lowe’s Funeral Home. Funeral will be Friday, May 21, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Lowe’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Helena City Cemetery. The Rev. Danny Horne and the Rev. Brad Purvis will officiate.
