Obituary for Roy Clinton Smith Jr.

Roy Clinton Smith, Jr., age 81, of McRae, died Sunday, April 5 at Serenity Hospice of Dublin. The services will be private.
Roy was a native of McRae. He was a graduate of McRae Helena High School. He attended Mercer University and later graduated from Cincinnati School of Embalming. He was former owner of Harris and Smith Funeral Home. He was a livestock farmer for many years and retired from Woodman of the World Insurance. He was State Champion Pianist and was the organist for McRae First Baptist Church for 50 years. He served the Lord by sharing his musical talents with his church family, as well as serving his community in the same way.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy C. Smith, Sr. and Ruby Harris Smith of McRae.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved his family and was loved by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Betty Smith, of McRae, four sons, Michael Smith (Deb) of Savannah, Chris Smith (Karen) of Dublin, Jimmy Smith (Jeannie) of Brandon, MS, and Mark Smith (Lori) of Helena, and nine grandchildren: Erik Smith (Toni), Jordan Smith (Ashley), Kristen Jackson (Derek) all of Dublin, Jason Smith (Rachel) of Madison, MS, Natalie Thurber (Bryan) of Martinez, GA, Katherine Ranck (Daniel) of Ridgeland, MS, Anna Smith of Brandon, MS, Logan Smith and Peyton Smith, of Helena. He also had five great grandchildren, Fisher Smith, Finley Smith, and Camden Smith all of Dublin, Amelia Smith, of Madison, MS, and James Thurber of Martinez, GA.
